10 Guided Journaling Prompts to Explore Your Creativity

What do you do when your mind is swimming with negative thoughts 3 o’clock in the morning and you have nobody to talk to or nothing else that you can do?

What about when you come home after a hard day’s work and the stress of the day is about to send you in a mental spiral?

What if you are trying to recover from a toxic relationship or a heartbreak and the overthinking won’t quit?

We have all been there at one point or another. That breaking point. That moment where our heart or mind (or both) catapult us in a storm of emotions and we can’t stop ruminating.

If you are someone who practices journaling, it can provide you with a way to destress without numbing or surppessing your emotions which can be detrimental to your mental health.

Fortunately, when it comes to journaling, writing in a journal isn’t the only way to create a journaling practice. There are other creative ways that you can use to begin your journaling journey.

If you are a visual artist or simply enjoy creative activities such as coloring, painting, drawing, sketching, sewing, crafting, collage, mixed media art, doodling, and more, you can build your journaling practice around any of these interests to help you to release negative thoughts and find your center.

Here are 10 creative journaling prompts to help you to get started:

1) Draw your favorite flower in your sketch book.

2) Use scraps of paper to create a collage in your art journal.

3) Use your favorite medium and color a coloring page.

4) Practice slow stitching on a scrap of fabric for your junk journal.

5) Use mixed media to create a pattern in your creativity journal.

6) Find 4 leaves, label them, and place them in your nature journal.

7) Paint a watercolor scene of your backyard in your art journal.

8) Doodle your favorite animal in your sketch journal.

9) Draw your favorite quotes in your bullet journal.

10) Use oil pastels to paint a sea creature in your art journal.

What are some other ways you can explore your creativity by journaling about them?

Until next time,

Keep Creating!
