Benjamin Franklin famously said, "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." I am a big believer of this statement.
The importance of leaving the written word chronicling your contributions to this world is crucial.
Yes. When I use the term "Creator," I mean everyone who is involved in creating something of value whether it is a book, piece of art, or an invention.
For those who feel they don't have anything to write about, I beg to differ.
Take for example Emperor Marcus Aurelius who wrote in his journal faithfully. His book of Meditations was never meant to be published. Yet, because it exists, it has helped so many people through their personal growth, including yours truly.
_____ HERE'S A BIT OF MY HISTORY _____
I remember hand sewing, writing, and illustrating my first book at the age of ten.
It was a thrilling experience.
I was a young kid growing up in India with fancy dreams of becoming an artist, writer, and businesswoman someday (and maybe a stewardess too).
Then my father decided to come to America – the land of opportunity. (My Logo carries my father's self-portrait. He was an amazing artist and influenced my passion for art. My mother is a wonderful poet, and her maiden name is the inspiration behind my studio's name). My Nani was a multi-talented woman. She was a nurse who saved people's lives and when she was free, she taught me about Jesus, how to sew, embroider, knit, make biscuits, and pickles.
Armed with these seeds of interest, I arrived in America with my family.
Middle school was a massive culture shock and a blur.
High school included the same aimless studying of subjects that were of the least interest to me, except art, English, and history.
By the time I graduated high school and began college at 17, I was heading down a different path of life from the one I had envisioned.
Over the years, I held various jobs to survive. Always working the 9-5.
After many personal setbacks, including surgeries and living with a life-threatening condition called Idiopathic Anaphylaxis (IA) which can make me drop dead any second and without notice, I decided to re-construct my business, Trehan’s Treasures Studio, which I had started in 2008.
My desire to pull myself out of the ruins of my life is the driving force behind all my work. I have spent the past few years working on my personal growth through the practice of journaling, strengthening my prayer and meditation life, and practicing mindfulness techniques to overcome some dreadful challenges. I am still working on myself, and I am enjoying learning new things each day.
Although I am not a medical doctor or a certified therapist, I have developed my own method of self-therapy which is centered around the idea of building self-awareness through self-love, and it has helped me tremendously with my struggles. Now, I am sharing what I know with others, hoping that they may benefit from my practical suggestions too.
